If you’ve never stepped inside the stately Riverwood Mansion in Inglewood
(and unless you’ve held a wedding or been invited to one there, good chance that’s the case), you’ll have an opportunity this month. New owners are opening up the 200-year-old estate to more visitors, starting with an Open House on Monday, Sept. 8 from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. (it’s free, just RSVP
). That’ll be followed up with a mix of events in the coming months, starting with a Local Fest in November, focused on creations and culture made right here in Nashville and around Middle Tennessee.
Riverwood is one of our area’s oldest and largest stately estates, with 9,200 feet of historic home and gorgeous gardens and grounds to ogle, so it’s great that we’re getting more of a chance to enjoy it. But it’s far from the only super impressive estate worth ogling in Middle Tennessee — in fact, there are a whole slew of those on the market right now, from Franklin
to Belle Meade
. We may be viewed from the outside like a pretty low-key region, but when it comes to well-appointed living quarters, we do it right.
Even if you’re not in the market for a new Middle Tennessee estate, the stately homes on the market around here are fun to look at. Here are 10 that I’ve fallen for recently (and they’re truly just a few):
1704 Old Hillsboro Rd
It’s hard not to be wowed by this nearly 8,000-square-foot property in Franklin, from the massive front porch and wide, expansive view of the hills to the exposed beams, beautiful pool and tennis court.
4019 Flagstone Ct
More than eight acres of breathtaking vistas, grand staircases, an incredible wine cellar, ornate ceilings, a basketball court, home theatre — living here, I figure you’ll never need to (or want to) leave.
7129 Brandon Park Ct
You have ultimate privacy at this Franklin estate, with four acres of lush green grounds and more than 9,000 feet of living, with true Southern charm enhanced with all the upscale touches, from a media room to your own elevator.
1178 Saddle Springs Dr
Those of you with an equestrian passion will love this community in Thompsons Station; folks drawn to Southern elegance will love the ornate balcony balusters and stately columns.
941 Sunset Ridge Dr
Live in Franklin, but feel like you’re living on the Mediterranean, with lake and hillside views and 5,000-plus-square-feet of impeccably appointed living space.
804 Cedar Knob
If you want an estate that bears some Southern history, this one includes exterior and fireplace stone that was repurposed from an original homestead that dates back to the Civil War. Elsewhere, the chef’s kitchen and spa-like bathrooms offer classic elegance and modern luxury.
6411 Arden Ct
This is one for folks who want to feel like they’re living in a state park without the extensive upkeep that lushness would normally entail. You’re on an acre in Brentwood, but since this property was owned by a landscape architect and is perched up on a hill, you’re enveloped by mature trees in the distance, manicured details up close. And every foot of the nearly 6,000 square feet of living space is beautifully done.
511 Chippenham Ct
Wanna live in your own castle? Just click through to the front door — it’s the first piece of a storybook estate right in Franklin.
612 Lakemeade Pt
This one’s for waterfront lovers: Climb out of your salt water infinity pool overlooking the water, walk onto your private dock and take a cruise around Old Hickory Lake.
308 White Swans Xing
This mediterranean villa brings the wows at every step — an incredible ornate ceiling over an eye-grabbing winding staircase, office space suited for royalty, a pool that’s resort-luxurious. But the most amazing part might be the dining room — you won’t find too many of these outside of Tuscany.
Whether you’re looking for a stately estate or a cozy first home, I’d love to help you find what you’re looking for. Just reach out
