A New Fortune 500 Auto Company HQ Could Be A Big Boost For Antioch

Earlier this week, the Nashville Business Journal reported on a Fortune 500 auto company, LKQ Corp., and its big plans for the Nashville area — an expanded regional headquarters is in the works, with a 100,000-square-foot office building and scores of new jobs.

Then details followed on where that square footage will likely be: Antioch, Tennessee.

Should that new $25 million HQ come through, it’ll help cement Antioch as another local auto-industry hotbed, along with Smyrna (Nissan North America's headquarters and a factory are there) and Spring Hill (home to a General Motors plant). (Not familiar with LKQ Corp.? They’re “a leading provider of alternative and specialty parts to repair and accessorize automobiles and other vehicles,” so you may already be driving some of their creations around.) 

With an estimated 550 workers settling down at that location, too, Antioch could have a fresh crop of new families coming to call the area home.

What does that mean for the real-estate picture in the Antioch area? It’s too early to say, for sure, but one thing worth noting now: In a city that’s rapidly becoming more expensive for home buyers, Antioch remains a bright spot for the budget-conscious.

The median price for a home in Antioch right now is just over $100 per square foot. For comparison’s sake, Brentwood is closer to $170, Nashville overall $175. A home in highly desired 37215 zip code in Nashville, meanwhile, jumped to $216 over the past year. So if you’re looking for a large family home with a $200,000 or so budget, your prospects are more plentiful in Antioch than in most other parts of the Nashville area.

Lots of space for the price here, with more than 2200 square feet, 3 beds and 2 1/2 baths, plus a nice deck, two-car garage, fireplace and bonus room. Very few sacrifices in terms of details here, too — you might end up wanting to upgrade the kitchen countertops and a few light fixtures, but much of the house has great hardwoods and nice, neutral decor.

What the high end of things looks like in the Antioch area: a huge home (3400-plus square feet, with 4 beds and 3 baths), plus more than two acres of fenced property with gated entry, a saltwater pool and hot tub, big detached workshop and a bonus room with bar that musicians and/or anyone in search of a serious man cave will find quite appealing.
