All Eyes On Antioch With The Nashville IKEA News

There’s been a solid trend of good news around here lately. First, the Preds made their way to the Stanley Cup playoffs, then we found out, at long last, that IKEA is coming to Nashville. Hööräy!

I know there’s no way you’ve missed the Predators buzz, but on the off chance you’ve managed to avoid the latter news, here are the basic IKEA details: The new IKEA location is planned for Century Farms in Antioch, and even if all goes smoothly, the store won’t be breaking ground until 2019, opening in 2020.

So, it’ll be a long while before we’re wandering aimlessly through IKEA’s aisles, mispronouncing light fixtures and adding to our collection of hex wrenches.

Still, there’s already a lot of talk about how Antioch might change, in the wake of the news. Mayor Megan Barry said she thinks the new store is “going to revitalize and energize that community.”

That could be great news for Antioch homeowners, and I certainly wouldn’t be surprised to see it inspire a rise in Antioch homebuyers. The area is still among the more affordable parts of town, while still being conveniently located.

With Antioch on a lot of folks’ minds, I wanted to focus this week’s Open House roundup there. But oddly enough, I couldn’t find a single Open House happening in Antioch proper. So I’m flipping the script a little.

First:

Then, some Antioch homes that caught my eye. They won’t be open this weekend, but if you’re househunting in Nashville and need some help getting your search going, just drop me a line. I’d be glad to help.

5856 Monroe Xing , #5856

Antioch, TN 37013

$149,900

First-time buyer? Owning a nice home in the Nashville area is still doable with a $150K budget. This 2-bed, 2 1/2 bath townhome is well-kept and well-outfitted, and it’s an end unit too, just under the $150K wire.

{mls: 1830322}

3344 Oak Timber Drive

Antioch, TN 37013

$199,900

Totally renovated and under $200K — this one has great lofted ceilings in the main room, a nice fireplace, 3 bedrooms, 2 baths and updates in key places (like a new HVAC and newer roof).

1960 Wild Oaks Ct

Antioch, TN 37013

$244,300

If you’ve started looking at new-construction homes in Nashville, you know that a per-square-foot asking price under $150 is about as common as a unicorn close to the city. In Antioch, you can find listings like this one: 3 beds, 2 1/2 baths, just under 1700 square feet with all the details  you expect in a new build, listed at well under $250K. Almost close enough to shout at the IKEA site, too.

{mls: 1815556}

2020 Hamilton Hill Drive #2

Antioch, TN 37013

$264,990

A new build with enough space for a growing family, right down Bell Road from the planned IKEA. At almost 2200 square feet, with 4 beds and 2 1/2 baths, this’d easily be listed at almost twice the price in East Nashville or The Nations.
