If you work downtown, but want to take advantage of the extra breathing room living a little further out affords, the train is an easy way to pull yourself out of Nashville rush-hour traffic. And down the line, it may become easier — as plans to expand mass transit in Music City move forward, the intent is to make the Music City Star play a starring role.
Curious about riding the commuter rail? Check out the schedule to see when/where you can hop on (if you’re reading this on Friday, Sept. 16, rides after 3 p.m. are free in honor of the anniversary).
If riding the train sets your mind on living in one of the towns on the Music City Star route, give me a call — I’d be glad to help you explore. In the meantime, for this week’s Open House roundup, I’m focusing on listings in some of those Music City Star-adjacent areas.
Lebanon’s only about a 30 minute drive from Nashville (a little longer on the Music City Star, but hey, you can catch up on your reading). That distance gives you access to some relative bargains, like this well-kept mid-century home, listed at well under $200K. It has 3 beds and 2 baths, a little under 1700 square feet, with a huge fenced yard and 2-car garage. In a Nashville-proper area with lots of similar mid-century properties, like Inglewood, you’d easily be looking at $60-$80 more a square foot for a house in this shape. Open Sunday, 2 to 4 p.m.
317 Fescue Dr
Mount Juliet, TN 37122
Mount Juliet is growing fast, so you’ll see a ton of new/newer construction. If that isn’t your speed, you might check out something like this mid-century brick ranch — nicely updated, clean and bright, with a lot of space inside and out (1919 square feet in the home, well over a half acre property). Open Sunday, 2 to 4 p.m.
1105 Mires Rd #20
Mount Juliet, TN 37122
A brand new, large family home in Mount Juliet doesn’t necessarily come cheap, but you do get a lot of space and high-end detail for your money. This property, with 4 beds and 3 baths, at a little under 3,400 square feet, easily accommodates a growing family, and although it’s not complete yet, in the in-progress photos, you can already see the level of detail going in. Lots of beautiful trim, stone countertops, archways, columns… High end like this, coming in at less than $150 asking — you won’t see much/any of that in Nashville. Open Sunday, 2 to 5 p.m.
803 Stone Brook Dr. #2
Lebanon, TN 37087
Lebanon’s seeing something of a building boom too, and your dollar goes even further than it does in Mount Juliet. This new construction home is similarly luxurious, and huge — 5 beds, 3 1/2 baths and just shy of 4000 square feet. If you’re looking for a spa-like master bath and killer bonus room, this one’s worth a look. Open Sunday, 2 to 5 p.m.

"In short, TJ was awesome. He never once pressured us to look for something that was outside of our budget or didn't fit our style. His main concern was that we found the right house for us. He really cared about us and our future life in the home. He was also very knowledgeable about the areas (not just the architectures) that we might be best suited for. Now that we're settling in to our new (and first) place, we couldn't be happier! We're ready for the warm weather to stick around for a while so that we can get cracking on our outdoor projects! I have already recommended working with TJ to some of my friends who are currently looking for homes in Nashville and will continue to do so."
