Outside of the Nashville area, most of the people who know of our beautiful neighboring city to the north, Hendersonville, know it because of its most famous residents: Johnny and June Carter Cash.

The Cash estate on Old Hickory Lake was the iconic couple’s home for most of their marriage, and there, they hosted guests that ranged from fellow musical royalty to heads of State.

After Johnny and June passed away, ownership of the home passed to others, and sadly, in 2007, much of their home was lost to fire (a one-bedroom apartment in what used to be the couple’s wardrobe room is still there).

But the beauty of the Cashes’ almost five-acre lakeside property remains, with stone walkways, remarkable views and a covered boat dock accessing the water. And if you’ve always dreamed of owning it, you can have your chance — the Nashville Business Journal gave a heads up this week that the Cash property had come back on the market, with an auction coming up on December 20.

You can see more about the property by clicking the image up top. But while you’re thinking about Hendersonville, I figured I’d focus this week’s Open House roundup on other homes on the market there, welcoming you in this weekend.

First, broader Middle Tennessee Open House options:
