I’m always intrigued when a megafamous homebuyer snags something new in Middle Tennessee — your home is a pronounced representation of who you are, so a home purchase is a kind of cool window into the real humanity of musicians and actors and other folks we may admire.

This past week, folks were reporting on the 400-acre estate country star Miranda Lambert recently purchased in Williamsport, Tennessee, an hour or so southwest of Nashville. It’s a beautiful space, and its attributes definitely say a few things about what its owner wants and needs.

Ample acreage: privacy and nature are hugely important.

Far-flung but not prohibitively so: away-from-it-all is key, but proximity to Nashville is still important.

Rustic but with luxury upgrades: an appreciation of both country and city aesthetics.

Outbuildings: ample space for guests, without having those guests impede on that prized privacy.

Does Miranda Lambert’s dream compound sound anything like your own Middle Tennessee dream home? I dug around the listings for similarly stylish, remote but accessible homes (within an hour or so of Nashville) with ample acreage. Take a look and let me know what you think.

2090 Hollis Crossing Rd.

Cumberland Furnace, TN 37051

$563,900

Just an hour or so west, and you can snag 22 beautiful acres and a thoroughly lovely, 4600-plus-square-foot Cape Cod-style home for what you’d pay for a home half its size in many Nashville neighborhoods. (There’s also an option to buy more acreage, as the total estate encompasses 146.) The huge wrap-around deck gives you a perfect space to survey your peaceful, quiet surroundings, and if your retreat-style life includes horses, you’re in luck — two custom barns on this property.

500 Lonesome Dove Ln.

Woodbury, TN 37190

$760,000

If what you want is a profound lack of neighbors and a nice dose of cabin chic, this Woodbury property nails it — the stairs and stones that greet you upon entry are perfectly rugged, far from ragged. And with 52 acres, you’re definitely in your own private world.

{mls: 1699659}

6646 Arno College Grove Rd.

College Grove, TN 37046

$879,900

This historic College Grove home (built in 1920) has been tastefully updated, but what really grabs me here is the 15 acres of property. Your own beautiful private lake, what seems like miles of white-fenced pasture, tree swing and a barn for your horses. The dictionary definition of pastoral beauty.

{mls: 1697090}

2600 Roy Arnold Rd.

Murfreesboro, TN 37130

$899,900

Your away-from-everyone dream home might not be anywhere on the rustic scale — if you’re looking for something fully modern but surrounded by open property, this one’s just out in Murfreesboro, with 15 acres and a newer home that’s perfectly well-appointed. This property has a few extra fun and/or unique bonuses, too, like a salt water pool and barn outfitted with a batting cage.

{mls: 1701778}

6737 Schwartz Way

College Grove, TN 37046

$1,360,000

With more than 12 acres of rolling hills and lush greenery, this College Grove estate is gorgeous on the outside. It’s no slouch inside, either, with 5000-plus square feet of Southern charm — a mix of rustic touches, like a stone fireplace and exposed beams, and more genteel design, including a dining room and sitting room infused with open, luxurious country elegance. My favorite part of this property, though: the stunningly pretty two-story log cabin outbuilding.

{mls: 1696688}

3360 Sweeney Hollow Rd.

Franklin, TN 37064

$2,550,000

You’ll need something approximating a Miranda Lambert-style budget here, but you definitely get a whole lot for this price tag — more than 41 acres of Leiper's Fork property, including two stocked ponds and a horse barn, plus a 3600-plus-square-foot home. The house itself seems to fit Lambert’s rustic-superstar tastes, too, with rough-hewn beams and stone and, for good measure, a recording studio space.

Hunting for an out-of-the-way, my-own-private-country home? I’d love to help you find it. If your tastes lean more toward city side living, I’d be more than glad to help there too. Give me a call or send me an email, and tell me about what you’re looking for!
