This past spring, after years and
years of having the same roommate, my roommate moved out of my basement
and in with his lady friend. The time was right for me to rethink things
downstairs, so I redid all the floors, installed new stair treads and
risers, and added a full bath. In the fall, a friend of a friend will be
moving in to my renovated basement for a few months while she gets
settled in Nashville. My temporary roommate has forced the issue, and
I'm grateful for it; it's time for me to make some decisions about my
basement and the empty guest bedroom that's down there. I have a blank
and clean slate to work with, which is exciting, but also a little
dumbfounding. And because my house guest is a woman, I don't want to
create a space that's too manly. Aaaand because my basement can be dark,
I want to find ways to add light and color so that it doesn't end up
feeling like a cave. I think the color green will help. Green is fresh
and spring-like and not really masculine oor feminine. I plan on combing
antique stores and flea markets in the coming weeks for some unique and
local scores, but in the meantime here's what I'm thinking about,
decor-wise:A great lamp: This one is from LampsPlus.com.A crisp white duvet:
is from the Etsy shop LolasRoom. There are lots of good finds there. I
imagine this one would look fantastic blown up really big, matted and
framed.I'll keep you guys posted about what I end up going with in the guest room.

"T.J. is a top notch sales and service professional. I have bought homes in multiple states and dealt with a dozen real-tors and T.J. is the best of the bunch. I need three things from my real-tor: local knowledge, responsiveness, and honesty. T.J. is off the chart in all three areas. I follow his real-estate blog and regularly bounce market questions off of him. T.J. responded quickly and professionally to each and every question my wife and I sent his way. Ultimately T.J. talked my wife and I out of a not so good deal and advised us to wait a while before purchasing a second home (due to our situation not the market). I would not hesitate to recommend T.J. to anyone interested in Nashville real-estate. Form a first time home buyer to someone just new to the area you can't go wrong with this guy!"
