I’m big on golf, and it has an absolutely stunning, world-class golf course, so it makes sense that I’d be drawn to the place. But beyond, I was taken by the scenery, with 724 acres of wooded beauty in College Grove, just about 30 miles south of Nashville. And I was taken by the quality homes being built there too — by and large, they’re luxury properties with no shortage of high-end details, fitting the surroundings.
Anyhow, now that the weather is cooling down and the leaves are beginning to turn — I’m big on fall foliage too — I wanted to look back in that direction, since I knew it’d be that much more beautiful with the autumn colors in full bloom.
As it happens, there are a number of Open Houses at Hideaway at Arrington this weekend, if you, too, would like to see how the fall treats one of the Nashville area’s more picturesque places to buy a home. For this week’s roundup, I’ll point out a few.

I'd say this one qualifies as a luxury estate, with more than 5,000 square feet of exquisite, kind of farmhouse-chic detail, and views from the covered porches that’ll have nature aficionados thoroughly wowed. The accordion glass doors in the kitchen bring the outside in, too, taking extra advantage of the surroundings. Throughout, the design manages to feel clean and bright and homey at the same time. Open Saturday and Sunday, 2 to 4 p.m.

Another large home that takes farmhouse coziness upscale, this one has some really bold — and really cool — design choices added in. A few of my favorites: the copper apron sink, unique statement lighting and ample use of warm wood cladding (from barnwood accent walls and home bar to the cedar-wrapped porch and regal, deep wood-paneled study). My fellow golfers: This one overlooks the fourth hole, too. Open Saturday noon to 5 p.m., Sunday 1 to 5 p.m.

This is a high-end community, but the homes on the market in Hideway at Arrington aren’t all topping a million. This brick and stone-facade build — still suited for large families, with more than 4,300 square feet — is traditional and elegant, with all the standard traits you’d expect from an upscale home, and a handful of cool extras (like the bonus room with bar, and gorgeous covered patio).
