This week, I took off to admire architecture in a place that’s just as rhinestone-y but a lot less humid: Vegas. There’s no shortage of interior and exterior wonders to nerd out on here, from the massive and modern geometric sprawl of the Shops at Crystals to Dale Chihuly's beautiful and colorful art blossoms at Bellagio

The tie that binds everything in Vegas, of course: Go big or go home.

So with that sensibility fresh in my mind, this week’s Open Houses roundup is going to focus on going big when you’re going home: generously sized and gorgeously appointed estates on the market now in Middle Tennessee. These may fit your needs and budget, or they may be more inspiration/aspirational. Either way, they’re nice to look at.

First, the broader picture of what’ll welcome you in this weekend:

And then, my big and beautiful home picks:

{mls: 1712880}

1003 W Grove Ave.

Nashville, TN 37203

 Something for the more modern design-inclined near 12 South and Belmont: This new construction has more than 3000 square feet of living area with sleek finishes — the way the open-tread staircase frames the kitchen is a favorite bit. But the most go-big attribute: the two-story living area with a high-design fireplace that anchors the room in a major way. Open Saturday 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. and Sunday 2 to 5 p.m.

{mls: 1685133}

45 Annandale

Nashville, TN 37215

When you want your home to feel like your castle in something closer to the literal sense: more than 8000 square feet in Otter Wood, with a regal turret that’s as pretty on the outside as the curving staircase makes it on the inside. Lovely traditional design throughout, but the serious shopaholics might want to click through to the cedar-lined closet. If you can overstuff this space, you probably should put a sign outside and call it a department store. Open Sunday 2 to 4 p.m.

{mls: 1712584}

2305 Ashwood Ave.

Nashville, TN 37212

With 4400-plus square feet, 6 bedrooms and 5 baths, even a large family definitely isn’t gonna be cramped in this Hillsboro/West End home. Remember when I mentioned awesome home theaters in Nashville around the Oscars? This one’s got a fantastic space for the film buffs, along with a study that’s set up perfectly for those of you who’d much rather read the book. Open Sunday 2 to 4 p.m.

{mls: 1707460}

406 Westview Ave.

Nashville, TN 37205

Almost two leafy acres of property in beautiful Belle Meade, plus a home that’s over 4600 square feet with windows galore, to make it feel even larger. This property was built in 1935, so you’re looking at traditional luxury inside — though having so much manicured property and privacy in one of the most sought-after parts of Nashville is the real win here. (Still, the rec room in particular is a big wow.) Open Sunday 2 to 4 p.m.

{mls: 1695466}

9545 Sanctuary Pl.

Brentwood, TN 37027

Big, big, big in Brentwood — more than 8200 square feet, with 5 beds, 5 full baths and 3 half baths. This one's a newer home that’s been kept a total showpiece, from the high-end kitchen to the wine cellar to the theater room. The stone-enclosed patio with built-in fireplace, though? That’s Vegas-big. And height of opulence: your own elevator. Open Sunday 2 to 4 p.m.

Feeling wooed by any of these big beauties? Need something a little less Vegas, a little more East Nashville? If you’re looking for a perfect place to call home in Middle Tennessee, let me know  I’d love to help you find it.
