Right now, we’re hard at work on getting the finishing touches sorted for our new builds in Woodbine — the fun stuff, like finishes and fixtures, tiles and lighting. The vision for these two new homes was to embrace the classics, start to finish (something that I think is a no-fail approach to home design). So we chose to build fresh (but familiar) takes on a classic farmhouse, and a foursquare. (That’s the foursquare, pictured above.)
These two homes aren’t on the market yet (though they will be soon, and if you have any questions about them, please reach out). Since their design is looming large in my mind right now, I decided to focus this week’s Open House roundup on the farmhouse and the foursquare — specifically, homes that embody those styles, on the market now, open this weekend.
East Nashville is full of historic beauties like this one, but at a budget of less than $250,000, chances of owning one are slim. Unless you stumble on something like this 1925 foursquare separated into flats. Cute, spacious and great location. Open Sunday 1 to 5 p.m.
2120 Glenn Haven
Nolensville, TN 37135
A pretty picture-perfect foursquare in Nolensville, with the charming, broad front porch and boxy beauty — this is a newer home, built in 2008, so you have all the modern amenities with a style that nods back a century. Open Sunday 2 to 4 p.m.
609 Tywater Crossing Blvd
Franklin, TN 37064
Newer construction in Franklin with foursquare-style charm. Neat as can be, with tons of space — nearly 3000 square feet. Open Sunday 2 to 4 p.m.
1025 Villa Pl
Nashville, TN 37212
A true early 1900s foursquare in Edgehill with massive amount of space — 4300 square feet, with 5 beds and 4 baths — and updates galore. You’ll see plenty of historic touchstones, though, and they’re beautiful ones — gorgeous transom windows, charming fireplaces, ornate woodwork. That kind of beauty never goes out of style. Open Sunday 2 to 4 p.m.
2191 Hartland Rd
Franklin, TN 37069
Farmhouse style in Franklin with the luxury turned all the way up — dynamic contrast in whites and blacks, shiplap, built-ins, a beautiful barn door, an outdoor fireplace… this home is so pretty it hurts. Open Sunday 2 to 4 p.m.
by TJ AndersonI’ve shared studies before that showed “top” schoo
"In short, TJ was awesome. He never once pressured us to look for something that was outside of our budget or didn't fit our style. His main concern was that we found the right house for us. He really cared about us and our future life in the home. He was also very knowledgeable about the areas (not just the architectures) that we might be best suited for. Now that we're settling in to our new (and first) place, we couldn't be happier! We're ready for the warm weather to stick around for a while so that we can get cracking on our outdoor projects! I have already recommended working with TJ to some of my friends who are currently looking for homes in Nashville and will continue to do so."
