One of the things we pride ourselves on here is our ability to really get what our clients are looking for in a home, and hunting down that perfect place as close to the letter as possible.  Sometimes our home buyers are looking for contemporary condos downtown, sometimes historic homes in Franklin, sometimes cute mid-century ranches in Donelson

Every now and again, some one comes to us specifically wanting something unique  the kind of home that doesn’t fit squarely into any box. I love hunting for those homes, and I love finding them. So with that in mind, here are a few unique Middle Tennessee homes on the market now that really caught my eye:

8837 Highway 100, Nashville, TN

There’s a ton to unpack about this Bellevue hideaway, so let’s try the CliffsNotes: Its design rides the line between a contemporary artist’s retreat and a rustic chalet, with gated entry, 20-foot ceilings and a wall of windows in the great room, immensely cool spiral staircases and perfectly private outdoor living space. Did I mention it’s up on top of a mountain, too?

With a little digging, you can find some great Spanish-style homes in and around Nashville, from Little Hollywood in East Nashville to this 4-bed, 3 1/2 bath in West End. Clay tile roof: check. Cool and unique courtyard-style entry way? Check. Overall charming Spanish-style curb appeal? Check. Plus, totally renovated with a luxurious master and well-appointed kitchen, too.

The design touches inside this Sylvan Park home are what really stand out to me.  Check out the exposed brick that backs the open staircase bisecting the living and dining space, and the stone and tile work in the luxury bath, with french doors leading out to fantastic outdoor space. (The in-ground pool doesn’t hurt either.)

6230 Bresslyn Rd., Nashville, TN

This one’s for those of you who are truly enamored with the beauty of the past. A 3-bed, 3-bath West Meade home built in the ‘50s with 19th-century logs and heart pine floors, hefty and beautiful exposed beams, super cozy stone wood-burning fireplace, exposed brick and lots of other historic touches.  Click through to the covered porch with black and white checker board flooring, too — not your every day outdoor space, for sure.

4220 Old Hillsboro Rd., Franklin, TN

Quite a few reasons why this one’s unique, starting with its history: Williamson County dwellers might recognize it as Miss Sweeney's Inn, a women’s-only lodging stop that was once owned by Charlie Sweeney, son of Leiper’s Fork founder Joseph L. Sweeney. But beyond that, the restored 1933 Victorian just has so many uncommonly beautiful attributes, from the bead board ceilings to the fireplaces and fixtures and the “J” and “S” insignias on the chimney exteriors. That it’s a stone’s throw from the historic village is an added bit of cool.

214 Battle Ave., Franklin, TN

Walking up to the front of this 3-bed, 3 1/2 bath stone home in Franklin, with its charming ivy and manicured shrubs, gives me a cozy, The Shire kind of feeling.  Inside, the design is really dynamic and stylish, from the eclectic black-and-white theme in the attention-grabbing dining area to luxurious bathroom design that gives off an air of French sophistication. This one’s made for folks who really aren’t looking for another beige/neutral blank slate  a lot of attention’s been paid to giving this place a unique and beautiful personality.

Feeling drawn in by any of these unique homes?  Have another kind of design/style in mind? I’d love to help you find what you’re looking for — just drop me a line.
