Weekend Open Houses And An Eye On Antioch Growth

On Wednesday, Nashville Business Journal shared some news about moves toward a huge new development in the works in Antioch — developers snagged about half the property needed for a 300-acre project with retail, offices and residences.


“Just the pursuit of it has signaled the confidence developers are starting to show in areas that are outside Nashville's high-profile urban core, yet experiencing similar population growth and job gains,” the story says.


If you’ve been house-hunting in or around Nashville, you already know how competitive it is in the “high-profile urban core” — in hugely desired areas like East Nashville and Germantown. So news of vibrant new development in areas a little further out like Antioch is definitely interesting — in a few years, could all the buzz about the centrally located Nashville neighborhoods move on to outliers like Antioch?


It’ll be a good while before we see this development flinging doors open, but given the news, I thought I’d focus this week’s Open Houses roundup on Antioch, about a 20-minute drive Southeast from downtown Nashville.
