What A Million Dollar Home In Nashville Looks Like

Over the past few years, we’ve all been doing a lot of talking about the upward thrust of Nashville home prices. We’ve earned more and more attention and appeal, so homes here have become more and more prized. And there you go: rapidly rising prices.

With all this, sellers often celebrate, buyers sometimes stress. It's understandable, and justifiable. But more than a few times lately, I’ve heard friends say the equivalent of, “We’re getting like NYC!” Well, actually, not so much.

Some perspective: Home/design site Apartment Therapy just shared a fun rundown of what a million dollars will get you in New York, and there’s some nice, cozy eye candy to eyeball. Think one-bedroom in a decent part of Manhattan with the luxury touch of in-unit laundry.

The post is worth a look, both to see some cool apartment design elements, and to get a reminder that, while Nashville is on an upward swing, dropping a million does still get you legitimate luxury here.

For further perspective, I picked out a few properties on the market for about $1 million now that, in my opinion, look like a figurative million bucks too. Bonus: They all totally have in-home laundry.

In prized Forest Hills, this nearly 3,500-square-foot home, built in 1965, has been updated and upgraded with high-end, high-style touches. Southern Living picked the kitchen as a best-of this year, and man does it earn it, with pro-grade appliances, sleek Carrara marble and beautiful brass. The courtyard looks like it was plucked out of a luxury hotel, and there's more than four acres of private property, too.

An absolutely massive English manor-style home in gated Castlewood (more than 6400 square feet), this home is already appealing, with 20-foot fireplaces and beams, beautiful hardwoods and other touches. A few updates, though, and it’d be all-around breathtaking.

4303 B Dale Avenue

Nashville, TN 37204

$989,900

In one of the most desired parts of Nashville — Green Hills — you might think a million wouldn’t go that far. For my money, this is plenty far: New construction with a fully stunning great room, lots of architectural detail and plenty of space to stretch out, with 5 beds and 4 baths over 4,100 square feet.

8942 Hester Beasley Rd.

Nashville, TN 37221

$999,000

Prefer more rustic-leaning luxury? This Bellevue home has log-cabin charm, 15-plus acres of property and separate guest quarters that’ll give your visitors more space than most of those $1 million NYC apartment owners enjoy.

11 Breckenridge

Nashville, TN 37215

$1,040,000

Two things in particular that I can’t get over about this Otterwood estate, with 2-plus acres outside and nearly 6000 square feet of living space inside. One, the sunroom and deck, giving you a perfect luxury perch amid the trees. Two, the sunny foyer, with an octagonal opening to the upstairs — unique as it is cool.

Any favorites among these million-dollar Nashville homes? Have a different style — or different budget — in mind? Whatever you’re hunting for, our team would be thrilled to find it, Nashville-wide. Just drop us a line.
