In writing about Brentwood homes for sale the other day, I happened to mention that the Nashville suburb is touted as one of the wealthiest cities in the country, relative to the cost of living.

Extend that affluence out a bit: In 2017, Forbes listed the Top 10 Richest Counties in America, and there at No. 7: Our own Williamson County, Tennessee. A six-figure median household income plus lower county tax, lack of state income tax and a cost of living that’s 4 percent less than the national average: all adds up to success, by Forbes’ account. (Side note: Virginia really leads the pack there, owning the top three cities.)

One fun outgrowth of Williamson County’s affluence: It’s home to some of Middle Tennessee’s most exceptionally opulent homes, from stately Brentwood Colonial estates to your own private Franklin castle. And even if you’re not a homebuyer with a multi-million-dollar budget, they’re really fun to look at, right?

Below, a few of the wow-worthy big-ticket listings in Williamson County that are on the MLS now, for buyers, browsers or Internet window-shoppers:

1577 Moran Rd

Franklin, TN 37069

$9,500,000

This place takes your breath away before you even get inside, with almost 50 acres of emerald-green land and hundreds of feet of river frontage. But the home itself is no shrinking violet: Just shy of 11,000 square feet and modeled as a “Hamptons-style” retreat, it’s full of high-end, high-style details, from the elegant winding staircase to the massive chef’s kitchen with of-the-moment herringbone wood flooring. It was built in 1972, and clearly brought into today with no expense spared, which makes for a good fit with those million-dollar views.

5005 Lilly Valley Trail

Franklin, TN 37064

$5,750,000

In home design, I’m a sucker for a mixture of rugged texture and luxury materials — the upscale farmhouse approach catches my eye more often than not. If you can relate, take a spin through this 10,307-square-foot Leipers Fork estate on more than 45 acres of private property, just two miles from the village. In the main house, big, rough-hewn beams and weathered wood mix with hammered copper and stacked stone. There’s a crystal chandelier in the stable — that might say it all. Definitely don’t miss the treehouse, though — 8-year-old me would’ve passed out with awe on the spot.

1020 Vaughn Crest Drive

Franklin, TN 37069

$4,999,990

Your Mediterranean villa: This Franklin home is absolutely massive, at more than 14,000 square feet, but it’s a lot more manageable on the property front than many homes this size, with just over an acre and a half. They’ve made fine use of that outdoor space, too — between the pool and cabana with outdoor kitchen, you’re spoiled before you even step inside.

{mls: 1815678}

7 Colonel Winstead Drive

Brentwood, TN 37027

$3,900,000

A little more contemporary in Brentwood, this home, designed by architect Scott Wilson, is a lot more slick, sleek and surprising than the rugged stone exterior betrays. Some of the unique finishes won’t be to everyone’s taste, but the outdoor entertaining space (with pool and resort-grade patio) probably will be.

Looking for a  high-end home in Williamson County? Or something a little more toward the median? I’d love to help you find the right place, in Franklin, Brentwood or anywhere else in the Nashville area. Call or email TJ Anderson Homes here.
