Cabin fever set in yet?

It’s been a while since we’ve had a snow day like this in Nashville, and I’ll guess it has a fair number of us thinking about a) how lucky we are to live in a walkable area, or b) how much we wish we lived in a walkable area.

If you’re among the latter group and have been looking for a new home or a new neighborhood with worthwhile places you can hoof it to, you’re in luck: Even if Nashville isn’t the most walkable city in the country, we still have plenty of areas that’ll let you spend some days quite happily without ever getting behind the wheel.

With that in mind, I focused this week’s Open Houses roundup on homes on the market, open this weekend (assuming cancellations don’t happen due to the weather), that have fun walkable stuff nearby.

First, the bigger Open Houses picture:

Then, your walkable picks:

1015 N 5th St.

Nashville, TN 37207

A large and renovated 3-bed, 3-bath home in Cleveland Park with historic, East Nashville-beloved bones (it was built in 1899), this home’s just a skip from fantastic barbeque (the East Nashville BBQ Company) and close to Mas Tacos, the Pharmacy and more great Eastside eats. Open Sunday 2 to 4 p.m.

{mls: 1697447}

1544 Straightway Ave.

Nashville, TN 37206

Thinking about new East Nashville construction and want a good mix of walkable options? This 3-bed, 2 1/2 bath home and its companion at 1542 are in a fantastic location on Straightway — walk to sushi, hot chicken, fun local shopping at Hey Rooster, and soon, a new craft brewery (Southern Grist Brewing Co.) and vinyl shop/bar (Vinyl Tap). Both are open Sunday 2 to 4 p.m.

{mls: 1696872}

2021 B Galbraith Dr.

Nashville, TN 37215

Green Hills is a fantastic community, but you know, certain times of day, the traffic can be a little... challenging. Sweet deal to be a) in Green Hills b) within walking distance of some of the great stuff there. This new construction — huge, at almost 3,700 square feet and with 5 beds and 4 baths — is right around the way from the Hill Center and its mass of options (from shopping at Anthropologie to food at Pei Wei and Whole Foods), plus the Bluebird Cafe and lots more. Open Sunday 2 to 4 p.m.

{mls: 1691264}

1912 Kimbark Drive

Nashville, TN 37215

Love where the home above is located, but on the market for something just a little smaller? Here’s more new construction just a street over, with 3 beds, 2 1/2 baths and just over 2,800 square feet of living space. It — along with its neighbors at 1908, 1910, 1911, 1913 and 1937 — is set to be open Sunday, 2 to 4 p.m.

{mls: 1693247}

3420 Springbrook Dr.

Nashville, TN 37204

Here’s an updated mid-century home in a fantastic location — and, for your on-foot options, just a mile or so to Hundred Oaks Mall. See a movie! Buy a guitar! Pick up a few things from Home Depot while you’re out! Open Sunday, 2 to 4 p.m.

{mls: 1693288}

409 A S 14th St.

Nashville, TN 37206

It’s hard to get more walk-friendly than the close-in districts of East Nashville, like Lockeland Springs, East End and Edgefield. Just a quick walk from this new 4-bed, 3-bath home on S. 14th, and you’re at Shelby Park, or the Fatherland District (and all its shops and restaurants), or 5 Points (and all its shops and restaurants).

{mls: 1684032}

119 C 30th Ave S.

Nashville, TN 37212

Want easy, walkable access to Vanderbilt, Centennial Park and all the places to shop/eat in the vicinity? Here’s some spacious, four-story new construction (with a fantastic rooftop deck) right there in the middle of things. It’s open Saturday, 2 to 4 p.m., along with neighbors 119 A and 119 B.

{mls: 1683866}

868 Kirkwood Ave.

Nashville, TN 37204

Perfectly perched between two fantastic hubs of Nashville excitement: In this location, you can head one way to take in all the great restaurants and shops in 12 South, head the other, and hit the Melrose spots. It’s a well-appointed and spacious (2500-plus square feet) new home, too. Open Sunday, 2 to 4 p.m.

{mls: 1682154}

2315 9th Ave S.

Nashville, TN 37204

Like that Melrose/12 South access but prefer a detached home? Similar size, similar location, fantastic finishes, but detached. Open Sunday 2 to 4 p.m.

Let me know if any of these homes fit the list of what you’re looking for — or if you have a different set of needs. I’d love to help you find the perfect place.
