I’ve written a lot on our blog about my love of Woodbine — it’s one of my favorite neighborhoods in Nashville, and I’m definitely not alone. It’s been growing quickly and consistently over the past few years, and I’m excited to be a part of that growth.

We’re putting the finishing touches on our newest Woodbine project, and as you can see above, I wasn’t afraid to go a little bold with this one. The inspiration was a classic schoolhouse, and I think the bright and welcoming red totally nails that intent.

We’ll be sharing a lot more on this gorgeous new home soon (if you don’t already follow TJ Anderson Homes on Instagram, we regularly share updates there). In the meantime, for this week's Open House roundup, I wanted to show a little love to the househunters and homeowners who, like me, get excited to go bold sometimes.

Muted, neutral colors are great — when you’re getting ready to put a home on the market, prevailing wisdom says that casting the widest color net is a good way to go.

But when you really want a home to stand out — especially if the property has the stylish bones to stand up to it — sometimes going in a more interesting direction is warranted. And as for me, well, this schoolhouse red has my heart.

OK, so, first, the broader picture of Open House options this weekend:

And then, my bold-colored picks:

1401 Sigler St

Nashville, TN 37203

The bold and the blue-tiful: This 4-bed, 3-bath home just a stone’s throw from Music Row and The Gulch really stands out, with that primary blue beaming against the white trim. The interior colors are a lot more toned-down, but the big personality outside adds unique curb appeal for sure.  Open Sunday, 2 to 4 p.m.

1009 S 11th St S

Nashville, TN 37206

Like Woodbine homeowners, East Nashvillians generally aren’t afraid to be style-forward. So the deep red chosen for the exterior of this modern new construction home — 3 beds, 2 full and 2 half baths over 2,321 square feet — definitely suits the vibe of the community. If you’re hunting for a roof deck with big views, this one has that too. Open Sunday, 3 to 5 p.m.

3300 Felicia

Nashville, TN 37209

One of the cool things about modern architecture is that it can stand up to disparate color choices — sleek and cool like the slate gray here, or bright and intense, like the rust red in the middle. Personally, I think without that burst of brightness, these attached homes on the west side of Nashville (Sylvan Summit) would be far less visually appealing. Nice call there. Open Sunday, 2 to 4 p.m.

1125 Timber Creek Dr

Murfreesboro, TN 37128

Kudos to the designers who picked out the exterior finishes for this new home in Murfreesboro — there are so many brick homes in communities out there that look perfectly nice, but very similar, and this mossy green stands out without being out of place. Adds a nice little pop of brightness to an otherwise traditional-looking property. Open Saturday and Sunday, 1 to 5 p.m.

What’s your take: Are you drawn toward bold and bright exterior colors, or do you prefer a more laid-back white/gray approach? Whatever your preference, I’d love to help you find the home that suits your tastes to a T — if you need help on your house hunt in or near Nashville, call or email, and let me know what you’re looking for!
