A Franklin Estate Fit For Nashville And Hollywood Royalty
by TJ Anderson
A tidbit from Variety magazine that might interest Nashville-area househunters and/or Nashville-area music lovers: The movie-industry mouthpiece recently noted that an expansive Leipers Fork estate owned by country star Keith Urban and actress/wife Nicole Kidman is up for grabs.
The property’s been on the market for a minute now, but the famous local sellers’ identity was news to me. Exploring the listing, though, makes it clear the place is fit for A-list creative types: almost 36 acres for ample privacy, soaring great-room ceilings to let the grand piano notes rise and ring, decked-out home gym for staying red carpet-ready, master closets that are bigger than most Manhattan apartments, guest cottage to keep visitors close/not too close and lots of other pluses.
With 4 beds, 4 full and 2 half baths and almost 5100 square feet, the home is a spacious retreat, though not an off-puttingly opulent one. For a multi-million-dollar Franklin manse, this one’s surprisingly approachable — which seems to fit the famous couple’s vibe.
On the off chance you’re reading this and feeling inspired to try and find the pair there, word to the wise: a) it’s gated, obviously b) it’s apparently just one of many opulent properties in the Kidban empire, along with another Nashville mansion, a Beverly Hills beauty and a Manhattan condo, c) if they ever did live there full-time (which is doubtful), they certainly don’t currently — the listing photos show the home mostly cleared out, partially staged, d) just don’t; part of Nashville’s charm is that we don’t hassle the famous folks.
If you’re looking for a Franklin estate in the $3.4 million range (or you enjoy aspirational home browsing), head here to check out the listing, with more info and more photos.
Like it but don’t feel like it’s quite your Better Life, or Your Everything, or your Sweet Thing, or just all-around For You? Below, a few more major Middle Tennessee estates in that price range, also fit for Nashville and/or Hollywood royalty.
7137 Swift Rd
Greenbrier, TN 37073
Under 40 acres not gonna do it for you? Up in Greenbrier, this estate has almost 70 acres of pastoral property, including a stocked pond, trails and creeks and deer and turkey habitat. The home itself: palatial and traditional.
2460 Hidden River Ln
Franklin, TN 37069
Also in Franklin, this one’s for the entertainers — not in the professional sense, but the party-at-home sense. There’s an impressive cinema space with full bar and pool table, even a full arcade set up (doubt it conveys, but at this price point, everything’s usually negotiable). In the summer, you'll have a breathtaking pool and hot tub and a two-story screen room just beside it, basketball court, and no slouch of a playground.
1314 Chickering Rd
Nashville, TN 37215
Three-ish million doesn’t go quite as far right in Nashville, but it goes plenty far — take this Belle Meade estate on more than five acres, listed just under $3.5 million. All elegance with European aesthetics, and, fittingly, a serious wine cellar.
839 Beech Hill Drive
Winchester, TN 37398
For the discriminating home buyer who wants to live on the lake: a full 12 acres right on Tims Ford, with a large but homey lakeside retreat (lots of warm wood and stone over more than 5700 square feet). The covered patio spaces overlooking the water: simply stunning.
Falling in love with any of these impressive estates? Need something in a different area, city-wise or budget-wise? Whatever you’re looking for in a Nashville-area home, I’d be thrilled to help you find it. Call or email TJ Anderson Homes here.
