This is an idea whose time has most definitely come: The Nashville Business Journal hipped me to Nashville Mural Tours, a new local business that takes you “to the art at the heart of Music City.”

Led by local Mary Meeuwis, these Mural Tours take you on a 2 1/2-hour jaunt across the city, where you’ll stop at public art both Insta-famous and under the radar, from Kelsey Montague’s WhatLiftsYou wings in The Gulch to West Nashville’s open-air street-art gallery OFF the Wall.

Worried about how many selfies you’ll get a chance to collect along the way? Meeuwis promises to stop at at least 10 murals, and you’ll pass by a bunch of others as you cruise through Nashville, too.

Short on time? Meeuwis is willing to help there too — you can book a special hour-long tour with her that’ll jet you direct to feeling #blessed.

Nashville Mural Tours run twice a day Tuesday through Saturday (starting at 10 a.m. and 2 p.m.), with Sunday and Monday runs by request, and tickets are $30 per person, available through nashvillemuraltours.com.

A few of my favorite newer/less-famous Nashville murals

Meeuwis can give Nashville visitors a thorough rundown of fun Nashville street art, but by virtue of time limits, she can’t show you every cool mural in town.

And, to be fair, neither can I — this blog post would be a mile long. But I do have a few lesser-known (or very new) favorites that I’d love to spotlight, in case you take a Mural Tour and want to add to it.

“STAY INDEPENDENT”

Nashville artist Bryan Deese just added this John Prine mural to the wall of the soon-to-be new Grimey’s location in East Nashville, and it’s a perfect celebration of Nashville’s most famous cultural export (i.e. songwriting), and our independent spirit.

“SMALL GIRL, BIG WALL”

The final piece of the Off the Wall puzzle recently went up in West Nashville, courtesy of Nashville artist Tess Erlenborn, and it’s a perfect piece of punctuation — unique, beautiful, evocative and colorful.

“PIZZA WINGS”

Line too long at Montague’s famous wings? Get a little cheesy and swing over to Hillsboro Village and pose in front of Pizza Perfect’s Pizza Wings.

The wall at Walden

East Nashville bar Walden popped up recently with nature-centric vibes inside and out, and their floral wall mural by Nashville artist Tara Marie Aversa is one of the best parts of their all-around great design.

“For The Gram”

Drawn up by artist ForBecks, these little “likes” are spread out all around town, from Sylvan Park to Germantown to Inglewood, and though they be small, they be mighty good for selfies.

Have any new favorites in the growing crop of Nashville murals? I’d love to hear your thoughts.
