10th Annual Science Of Beer Coming To Adventure Science Center In Nashville
by TJ Anderson
Nashville has a slew of craft beer festivals throughout the year — the 12 South Winter Warmer, the East Nashville Beer Festival, and so many others. But if your interest in beer is as academic as it is gastronomic, there’s nothing for you quite like the Science of Beer.
The event — “a one-of-a-kind craft beer festival that unites beer lovers and science enthusiasts” — returns for its 10th year in 2018, and will once again be held at the Adventure Science Center in Nashville, this time on Thursday, Dec. 20.
Over the course of the evening, attendees will get to learn the ins and outs of beer, through hands-on science demonstrations, interactive exhibits and discussions about home-brewing, distilling, cooking with fermented and distilled spirits and more.
Don’t worry: There are tastings too — more than 70 different beers brought in from breweries across the globe will be available for sampling.
A new addition for 2018: Organizers have added an “Explorers Lounge” ticket, which offers early access to all the learning and tasting, plus food to soak up all the brews, and the warm feelings that come with more deeply supporting one of Nashville’s dedicated providers of education and information.
Grab your spot at the Science of Beer
Regular adult tickets (access is for those 21-and-up only, obviously) run $60, and if you’d like to partake in the Explorers Lounge experience, that runs $100. Science of Beer tickets are available online now, through the Adventure Science Center website.
Although a lot of Nashvillians tend to think of the Adventure Science Center as a home designed just for our young residents — and it’s a fantastic space for them — this event is one of many created explicitly for us big kids. The Center does regular Way Late Play Date events, focused on all kinds of fun/cool/nerdy stuff, from Star Wars and Star Trek to Sherlock Holmes and James Bond, made specifically to let grown folks let their inner kid out.
Learn more about the various offerings and events from the Adventure Science Center at adventuresci.org — it’s one of Nashville’s cultural treasures, and well worth your attention whether you’re a young scholar, a parent, or just a big kid with a love for smart stuff and adventure.
