Featured Listing of the Week

We haven’t done a featured listing of the week in a while (quite a few weeks, as it were), but this one in Bellevue called out for it.

Built in 1910, the nearly 7,000-square-foot home was originally a church — a fact that’s pretty clear from first look, given the dynamic spire and beautiful arched front door. Today, it’s a stylish and totally renovated custom home replete with professional-quality recording studio and small urban farm plot.

It’s easy to go too far when you’re renovating a historic building — especially one this old, and one that wasn’t initially designed explicitly for living. But the updates and design here in this 5-bed, 4-bath home are smart and subtle.

The kitchen is a great indicator — you can still feel the history in the ample space, but it’s ready for modern living (just look at that state-of-the-art range).

The main living area is a stunner, too, with library built-ins, a stately fireplace and high ceilings with a loft overlooking the space. As so many of us have gotten more passionate about eating healthy and eating local, the gardening setup is a big selling point too — you can’t get more local than fruits and vegetables grown in your own urban farm. And the one-acre property is a great size for folks who want enough space for privacy but not so much land that upkeep is overwhelming.

I can’t imagine something more perfect for a songwriter or musician looking for their own private sanctuary, with space to work, room for a growing family and truly unique historic charm.

Let me know if you’d like to take a look at this property — I know this one’s an absolute dream home for someone in Middle Tennessee.

For the music-makers looking for a space with a slightly more modest budget, here are a few other homes with recording studios already in place, on the market now:

{mls: 1628237}

502 Rural Hill Rd.

Nashville, TN 37217

Great more-than-a-starter home in Edge-O-Lake Estates with 3 beds, 2 baths and a basement recording space that’s sizable and comfortable.

{mls: 1623752}

1105 Cedarview Ln.

Franklin, TN 37067

Beautiful recording space (in a charming Franklin family home) with exposed beams and enough room for a full band.

{mls: 1623393}

3045 Coral Bell Ln.

Franklin, TN 37067

A huge Franklin home (nearly 5,500 square feet with 6 beds and 4 1/2 baths) that’s set up for recording in style with an industrial-cool studio space, and entertaining in style with a big game room, too.

If any of these homes strike a chord (pun unintended), let me know — I’d love to show them to you.
