Friends who have a soft spot for historic, Cape Cod-style homes — and especially homey kitchens — this ones for you. Boston Magazine just shared details about a fresh-to-market Cape known locally as “the Betty Crocker House,” since nutritionist Janette Kelley — the woman behind that classic American brand — lived there.

Built in 1681, it’s absolutely overflowing with bygone-era charm, from the warm beams and brick hearth in the living room to the broad-plank wood floors and sweet, New England-classic kitchen. If you love this style — and I do — this listing offers all sorts of warm fuzzies. Take a look and enjoy.

I know: “Why are you telling us about a house for sale in Massachusetts?” No, I’m not in the habit of encouraging my clients to move 1100 miles away. But I know I’m far from alone in loving the simple, all-American grace of a Cape Cod home, and — I’ve said it a million times before — one of the fantastic things about Middle Tennessee is that you can find almost any home style represented here. Including Cape Cods.

The Betty Crocker Home inspired me to look around for some attractive options on the market now — here’s what caught my eye.

Cape Cod-style homes on the market in the Nashville area

4305 Iroquois Ave.

Nashville, TN 37205

$749,000

Does the Betty Crocker kitchen’s antique-y aesthetic get your pulse going? Take a look inside this historic Cape Cod in Belle Meade — although it’s been totally renovated (and has stainless appliances and open layout to prove it), a historic aesthetic clearly drove the design — classic Shaker cabinets and center cup/bin pulls, beadboard and butcher block make the case.

106 Windsor Dr.

Nashville, TN 37215

$919,900

Like the previous one, this Belle Meade home is a youngster in comparison to the Betty Crocker place — it was built in 1936. But even with a full spate of updates and upgrades, it’s full of timeless beauty: the stone fireplace in the den, and tastefully renovated, open kitchen. Hard to beat that Cape Cod-style curb appeal, too.

{mls: 1730883}

1244 Cliftee Dr.

Brentwood, TN 37027

$1,259,000

Over in Brentwood, this huge luxury home is a far cry from a simple circa-1600s Cape Cod — it was built in 2002, and has more than 5700 square feet of living space, including 5 beds and 2 full, 2 half baths. But classic Cape Cod elements — like its steep roof and warm wood shingles — inspired its design. Inside, it’s a mix of country-esque aesthetics and more modern leanings, but the upscale kitchen is definitely suited for a cook-off that’d make Betty Crocker proud.

{mls: 1747239}

4105 Mt Laura Ln.

Franklin, TN 37064

$2,100,000

This brand new Leipers Fork home, like the Brentwood beauty above, is larger in both the figurative and literal senses than a classic Cape Cod. But it takes copious Cape Cod notes as well, with its central chimney and shingles. Inside, historic elegance clearly inspired the upscale design choices, from the gourmet kitchen to the light fixtures. (The herringbone pattern in the kitchen floor is particularly eye-grabbing.)

Do you have a thing for classic Cape Cod charm, too? More drawn toward modern sleekness? Something in between? We’d love to help you find a place in or near Nashville that suits your taste to a T — call or email, and let us know what you’re looking for!
