Dashwood Vintage And Flora Is A New Nashville Favorite For Vintage Furniture And Home Decor
by TJ Anderson
I’m forever on the lookout for places to buy vintage furniture in Nashville. I’m also forever on the lookout for places to buy unique, handmade home decor.
So, when Dashwood Vintage & Flora opened in September 2018, over in the Donelson area near Opryland, my interest was certainly piqued.
The kind of stuff the Dashwood Vintage & Flora folks are stocking: vintage furniture from the midcentury, Art Deco and Hollywood Regency eras; globally sourced newer furniture with “an eclectic, modern meets vintage vibe”; and vintage decor and art from the 1950s through ’70s.
If you’re a Nashvillian with a heart for home decor, all those terms probably ticked the right boxes.
Another added plus: They restore vintage pieces too, a definite benefit for Nashville homeowners and renters who don’t have the time or inclination to fix up vintage finds that have been a bit well-worn.
And the Flora part: Dashwood’s also carrying a mix of houseplants, with a focus on spanning skill levels, from leafy friends that need a steady hand to desert plants that even the most plant-inept among us can probably keep healthy.
Just over the past few weeks, I’ve seen them dig up a heart-stopping five-piece Kent-Coffey bedroom set, including headboard (a serious prize among midcentury furniture hounds); a pitch-perfect 1970s Peacock chair; eye-grabbing velvet Art Deco chairs; plus great vintage rugs, macrame wall hangings and tons more.
This business is an addition to the Nashville vintage home shopping landscape that I almost want to keep to myself (their recent Broyhill Brasilia dresser find went too fast). But, I live to serve Nashville homeowners and househunters.
