Energy Friendly Open Houses For Earth Day
by TJ Anderson
Since Earth Day is this coming week, I thought I’d take a quick breather from spotlighting different Middle Tennessee neighborhoods in my weekly Open Houses roundup, and focus on a different aspect of house hunting: finding an energy-efficient, earth-friendly home.
There are loads of different ways to make a home more efficient, from the simple (replacing incandescent bulbs with LED bulbs) to the moderate (buying Energy Star appliances and replacing drafty windows) to the major (adding solar panels). Reaching the exact level of green living you’re looking for usually means customization and renovation, but if you’re looking to start on an energy-efficient foot, you can find homes that get you started toward that goal. (And if green living is what you’re looking for, I can definitely help — just reach out and let me know what’s on your must-have list.)
For starters, here’s what’s coming up for Open House hunters this weekend around Middle Tennessee:
And here, a few homes that have energy-efficient touches that’ll appeal to Earth Day celebrators:
213 Danton Ct., #73
Franklin, TN 37067
Here’s some new construction in Franklin with ample space (4 beds, 3 1/2 baths and nearly 3,500 square feet) and touches to keep that space energy-friendly, including Energy Star appliances, insulated windows and sealed ducting. Open Saturday 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.
226 Mealer St., #118
Franklin, TN 37067
Lots of fun stuff with this Franklin home, including a covered porch with a fireplace and a big game room. It also has plenty of green touches, like low VOC paint and insulated windows. Open Saturday noon to 6 p.m.
2323 Dewey Drive Lot #24
Spring Hill, TN 37174
This Spring Hill home’s set up for entertaining, with a gorgeous dining room, bright living room with cozy fireplace and a fun bonus/game room. It’s also set up to keep you from wasting money on energy bills, with Energy Star windows and Energy Star appliances. Open Sunday 1 to 6 p.m.
If any of these homes catch your eye — or if there’s something different you’re hunting for — we’d love to help. Drop me a line.
