Find The Modern Farmhouse Look That Miley Cyrus Grabbed In Franklin
by TJ Anderson
Whatever your opinion on her musical prowess, pop powerhouse Miley Cyrus certainly has impeccable taste in Middle Tennessee real estate. Outlets from USA Today to Variety have been reporting over the past week or so on Cyrus’ recent Franklin acquisition: a nearly 7000-square-foot, 33.5-acre retreat in a secluded corner of Williamson County.
Up top, you can take a video tour of the property, and if you’re anything like me — i.e. someone with a strong appreciation for modern farmhouse aesthetics — you’ll quickly see why she was eager to grab the place for just shy of $6 million.
A few favorite details: the absolutely awe-inspiring wrap-around porch, and pictured below, the rustic-textured but refined kitchen and the big, beautiful beams in there and in the living room. Lots more photos to ooh and ahh over from Showcase Photographers.
As popular as the modern farmhouse look has grown in the wake of HGTV's hit Fixer Upper, and as prominent as you’d think that aesthetic would be here in Middle Tennessee, it’s surprisingly tough to find homes that are fully imbued with that down-home/upscale mix. I love looking, though, so below, a few properties on the market now that all have touches of modern-farmhouse cool.
106 Coach Light Court- Lot 849
Hendersonville, TN 37075
If that dramatic vaulted and beam-heavy living room at Miley’s place stops your heart, the Lincoln plan in Hendersonville’s Mansker Farms pulls that vibe in too (at a much smaller budget). Modern-farmhouse touches frame the aesthetics throughout, from shiplap feature walls to textured hardwoods.
413 Eddy Lane
Franklin, TN 37064
This Franklin property’s on the market for pocket change in comparison to Miley Cyrus’ place, but it’s beautiful, large and filled with modern-farmhouse charm. (A big difference: about a hundredth of the acreage.) Cozy details were worked in throughout the 3684-square-foot home: big beams, shiplap, light fixtures with rustic textures… The porch might not be as massive as the one at Cyrus’ place, but it has a similar rocking-chair appeal.
725 Templeton Dr
Nashville, TN 37205
This mid-century West Meade home got a total overhaul, with a modern-farmhouse aesthetic leading the way. Throughout its 3800 square feet, you see a crisp and light color palette, with farmhouse-cool touches dropped in, from the wood-cladded ceilings in the massive great room to impactful bits of shiplap and rustic wood. Beautiful siding detail on the exterior too.
4300 Parkview Cir
Nashville, TN 37204
There’s a mix of aesthetics in this Park View home, but some modern farmhouse elements stand out, like the basket pendants over the kitchen island, the pops of shiplap and reclaimed wood and the light, bright palette. Side note: that huge U-shaped couch has more boho flair, but it’s one of the most interesting furniture pieces I’ve seen in a Nashville-area home listing in a while, and I kinda love it.
Any of these listings catch your eye? Thinking of something a little different as you hunt for a home in the Nashville area? Whatever’s on your wish list, I’d love to help you find it. Just call or email TJ Anderson Homes, and tell me what you’re looking for.
