Finding A New Home In Nashville With A Kitchen That Stuns
by TJ Anderson
We’re just about to cross the finish line with our Glencoe Acres renovation project at 3310 Marcus Drive (stay tuned to our Facebook/Instagram for a listing announcement). I’m obsessed with just about every inch of this reimagined mid-century ranch — we put immense amounts of inspiration, work and love into this project, and I can’t wait for a new family to call it home.
As is often the case, my favorite details are probably in the kitchen — see the large-joint-line subway tile and shiplap above, in progress. It’s looking stunning, if I do say so myself.
Since I’m so fired up about this kitchen rehab, this week’s Open House roundup is going to focus on kitchens that tug at my home-design-loving heartstrings (and that I think might tug at yours, too), all across the Nashville area.
First, the broader options:
Then, my picks:
1733 4th Ave N
Nashville, TN 37208
A really well-done renovation of this 1925 in the Buchanan Arts District — nice open main-space layout, classic and timeless finishes throughout. My particular favorite touch is how the kitchen space transitions into the living room, with a warm-wood barn door paired up with cladding above the fireplace. Open Saturday, 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
903 15th Ave S
Nashville, TN 37212
Everything’s bright and modern in this large Edgehill/Belmont home — what I like in particular about this kitchen is the cool gray/bright white cabinet finish combination, clean white stone countertops and delicate, elegant pendant lights. Extra point for the crisp mini white subway tile backsplash too — click through the photos to see it in more detail. It’s subtle but beautiful. Open Sunday, 2 to 4 p.m.
121 Lincoln Court
Nashville, TN 37205
Stark black and white contrast, big apron-front sink, cool bronze sconces — they funneled of-the-moment kitchen-design trends into this new, modern Belle Meade Courts build, and it’s a perfect example of why those trends are trending. Open Sunday, 2 to 4 p.m.
7048 Lanceleaf Dr
College Grove, TN 37046
I’ve been pretty vocal about my love of Hideaway at Arrington (and their golf course) — every home I’ve toured there has been a perfect blend of personality and luxury. Case in point: This 5-bed, 5-bath home and its classic/cool kitchen. I do have to admit, though: My favorite room in the house is the master bath — the tile choice and tub are showstoppers. Open Sunday, 2 to 4 p.m.
114 B Lasalle Ct
Nashville, TN 37205
The took a few big design risks in this luxurious Belle Meade estate — check out the powder room’s mix of brick and bold teal. But by and large, it has that modern-farmhouse mix of rustic textures and luxury finishes, exemplified in the kitchen. The basket pendant light, open shelving and massive weathered/whitewashed beams are all gorgeous touches. Open Sunday, 2 to 4 p.m.
2031 Castleman Drive
Nashville, TN 37215
So, the kitchen-kitchen in this new Green Hills home is a winner, as expected — elegant cabinetry and countertops and built-in wine storage. But what really got me is the screened-porch kitchen, with reclaimed wood cabinetry next to a gorgeous stone fireplace surround and tons of seating. You’d have to drag me out of this space if I lived here. Open Sunday, 2 to 4 p.m.
