Get Your Nashville Home Organized With Homegrown Company The Home Edit
by TJ Anderson
As a Nashville Realtor, one of the most important things I can do for home sellers is pinpoint things about their home that’ll catch buyers up — issues with deferred maintenance, places where a space’s best attributes are being hidden.
Most often, though, the first and best piece of advice I can offer: Declutter and organize. When you’re selling a home, spaces shouldn’t be empty, but they should feel clean, fresh and breezy — never closed and penned-in or overrun with personal knickknacks.
If that sensibility resonates with you, but you’re not sure where to start on shaping up your clutter situation, there’s a Nashville-based business that can help: The Home Edit, launched by transplanted Californians Clea Shearer and Joanna Teplin.
The Home Edit’s unique approach
I love the way those two Nashville entrepreneurs approach home organization: They launched The Home Edit “to reinvent traditional organizing, and merge it with design and interior styling.”
Ultimately, that gets you a few steps further toward your goal than just, say, Marie Kondo’s famous “KonMari” method of culling what doesn’t spark passion. Getting rid of things you don’t need and love is important, but ultimately, if you’re aiming to make your space look stylish and welcoming, there’s still a long way to go — namely, knowing how to make sense of the stuff you are keeping, and how to style it in a way that works well and looks great.
The Home Edit shoots for getting all the way to the end: helping you organize all your stuff, recommending products that’ll make maintenance easy, and adding their “signature stylized aesthetic.”
The results are obvious in the photos included here, all of past Home Edit projects, via thehomeedit.com. (If you’re a sucker for well-organized spaces, their Instagram feed will fire up that color-coded, perfectly-aligned happy place in your heart too.)
Home Edit options
The Nashville team does travel to do their work, and they’ve done so for a mix of high-profile clients, including Gwyneth Paltrow and Rachel Zoe. (Even Target’s tapped them for their organizing expertise.)
Here in Nashville, though, we lucky locals get access to a broader (and cheaper) spate of Home Edit services. You can hire their team for a full-service consultation, which includes shopping for organization items you need and facilitating your space reboot, at an hourly rate. You can also opt for the “local DIY” option, the team offering consulting and instructions so you can complete the process yourself, for a flat rate.
If your organized spaces fall out of shape, The Home Edit offers refreshes, too.
Whether you’re selling your Nashville home or just hoping to live a little more happily in there, decluttering and reorganizing makes a big difference, and our neighbors at The Home Edit are clearly among the best in the game. Learn lots more, and ooh/ahh over past projects, at thehomeedit.com.
Thinking about selling your home, and need broader help, from advice to listing to walking you through closing? I’m just a phone call/email away.
