Good Wood Nashville Fills Your Reclaimed Lumber Needs

Not everyone is drawn to the idiosyncrasies and colorful imperfections in reclaimed lumber, but those of us who are tend to truly love the look, whether it’s on a sliding barn door or flooring at home or a focus wall at a local restaurant.

Real reclaimed lumber — particularly enough of it to do a project as big as replacing or renovating flooring — can be tough to come by in a lot of places, though. In Nashville, these days, it’s a lot less difficult due to East Nashville’s Good Wood Nashville.

With a store stocked with everything from familiar grey barn wood to historic oak beams and eye-grabbing live edge slabs, Good Wood is a treasure trove for home improvement projects, whether you’re looking to build some unique furniture or give a boring corner of your den a little more charm.

The folks at Good Wood make their own custom furniture too — dining and coffee tables, headboards, desks, shelving… name what you’re looking for, and there’s a good chance they can help.

If you’re handy and like exploring raw materials, the Good Wood shop at 1015 W. Kirkland Ave., Suite 406, in Nashville, is fun to explore. You’ll see ideas hiding in just about every pile of history-filled lumber.

If DIY projects aren’t really your thing, but you’re in the middle of having a historic home rehabbed, ask Good Wood about flooring; odds are they can help make your home period-perfect again with reclaimed lumber they’ve milled into tongue-and-groove flooring.

In general, I love supporting local businesses, and I love local businesses that help homes in our area look their best, so I’m a fan, and really enjoyed getting a look around.

For more on Good Wood Nashville, check out their website, or drop by the store Monday to Saturday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

So, Good Wood’s my latest local find for great home-improvement ingredients. What are your favorites? Love to hear your suggestions. And if you’re looking for a home in the area that has the kind of charm that goes hand-in-hand with what Good Wood does, reach out — I’d love to help you find it.
