According to the Nashville Post, the famous Oak Hill charmer once owned by country legends George Jones and Tammy Wynette, First Lady Acres, just sold again for $3 million, after a full (and really impressive) renovation

The design team took the mid-century modern property to high-style places, and played up the flourishes that come with that aesthetic in a really beautiful way. I have a thing for light fixtures, so this property catches me in particular on that front — along with clean lines and palettes, some bold and unusual fixtures were worked in here, and I was wowed by just about every single one. Click through the listing website (from which the above picture is culled) if you’d like to get inspired.

I bring this enduringly famous piece of Nashville real estate up in part because scrolling through the photos is a fun exercise for people who love home decor, but also because it’s a good excuse to point toward some other Nashville-area homes — ones that are still on the market — that sit at the forefront of home design.

For this week’s Open House roundup, I picked out some properties that I think will appeal both to high-end Nashville homebuyers and Nashvillians who are hard at work on their home-design vision boards.

First, the broader picture:

Then, a few high-end picks:

3619 Woodmont Blvd

Nashville, TN 37215

The designers worked real wonders with wood in this new Homes at Woodmont property — herringbone flooring, cool beams and ceiling cladding, reclaimed feature wall behind the wet bar and more. Open Sunday, 2 to 4 p.m.

306 Galloway Dr

Nashville, TN 37204

My favorite spaces in this brand new luxury Glendale home are the baths — bold encaustic tile in the master bath, cool wall treatment and hexagonal mirror in the powder room… with 5 1/2 total baths, there’s a lot of room for cool design. No slouching anywhere else, either (big points for the mixed metals and soft blue cabinetry in the kitchen). Open Sunday, 2 to 4 p.m.

3617 Meadow Dr

Nashville, TN 37215

Unusual details are what make this new Hampton/Golf Club home stand out — like the fireplace that bisects the living space, the stunning white-brick outdoor fireplace, and a little latter-led bedroom loft that any preteen would be thoroughly obsessed with. Open Sunday, 2 to 4 p.m.

547 Close Ln

Nashville, TN 37205

There are some traditional design touches in this Hill Place home, mixed in with a bunch of of-the-moment details, particularly in the updated kitchen, with bold black and white contrast and mixed metals on the pulls/fixtures. Open Sunday, 2 to 4 p.m.

{mls: 1875737}

424 Glen West Dr

Nashville, TN 37215

A newer home in Barlow Glen (Green Hills area), this 4750-square-foot property beams the power of contrast — lots of beautiful black and white, with stunning drama. A few farmhouse-y features inside too (big beams, stone and brick), then one of its best attributes outside: a stunning modern pool. Open Sunday,  to 4 p.m.
