If you’re a big fan of home renovation/househunting television shows, you probably noticed: Turn back time a handful of years, and Nashville wasn’t appearing much on HGTV, the DIY Network or elsewhere in that landscape. Maybe the occasional House Hunters episode, but beyond, we spent a lot of time in the Tri-State Area and Canada. (And Texas — you know I fly the flag of Fixer Upper’s Chip and Joanna Gaines.)

That’s all changed somewhat recently. Maybe you can chalk it up to the health and vibrancy of the Nashville real estate market, or that whole “It City” thing. But whatever it is, we now have multiple series based here, showing viewers around the country what it’s like to live (and reimagine homes) in Music City.

Not familiar with the Nashville remodeling/renovating/home buying shows? Here’s a quick look:

Home remodeling/buying shows based in Nashville

Listed Sisters

Led by twin sisters Lex and Alana LeBlanc (a designer and real estate agent, respectively), this HGTV show is kind of the feminine match to Property Brothers Buying and Selling. The two hosts meet with Nashville-area homeowners and pull together a game plan for updating and upgrading their current home, with an aim of wringing the most money out of a sale. Lex and project manager Trey Palmer oversee the reno, and Alana helps the homeowners find a new place. The first season included homes from East Nashville to Antioch to Franklin, and they’re working on season two now.

Nashville Flipped

This one’s less focused on following homeowners’ stories, more on the homes themselves. East Nashville-based renovation company Nashville Flipped leads the DIY series of the same name, hunting down historic homes that need help, then completely reinventing them, foundation to roof. Restoration pro Troy Shafer and home designer Julie Couch put a premium on adding modern convenience while maintaining the historic properties’ personality, and it shows. If you want to catch up on season one, DIY has a Nashville Flipped marathon going on Saturday, August 13, starting at noon Central — you’ll see a 1910 Folk Victorian in Buena Vista, a 1923 East Nashville Craftsman and many other need-a-little-love properties getting new lives.

Masters of Flip

Home restoration-loving spouses Kortney and Dave Wilson head up this Nashville-based show on HGTV, and like Nashville Flipped, the focus is on finding neglected properties in need of love, and heaping that love upon them. You get a little real estate investment insight as the couple chooses between potential projects, then get to watch as they move from demo to reno to staging to selling. Sort of unsurprising fun fact, considering the location: the Wilsons are musicians, too, and got their professional-partner start as a country music duo.

Any of these shows get you obsessed with the idea of doing your own, non-televised home renovation? I’d love to help you find the perfect fixer-upper for the project. Reach out and tell me about what you’re thinking, and I’ll get to work!
