Rayna's Jaymes's "Nashville" House for Sale
by T.J. Anderson
Where: 1358 Page Road, Nashville, TN 37205
How Much: $19,500,000
The home of Nashville's lead character, country-music star Rayna Jaymes, is for sale in real life.
Owner Sylvia Roberts listed the Georgian-style mansion in October 2010 for $22.5 million and though she's leveraging its exposure on the hit TV show to market the jaw-dropping property, she has since dropped the asking price to $19.5 million. But market the home it has; this Belle Meade mansion is one of the most talked about homes for sale in the United States right now. Even just today the AOL Real Estate blog devoted a post to it, and the home has also been featured in The New York Times, The Tennessean, and on countless blogs.
Nashville isn't actually filming here anymore. Having captured all the exterior shots they needed, producers spent lots of $$ making replicas of the home's kitchen and master bedroom, among other rooms, at a Nashville sound stage.
1358 Page Road is one massive pad, spanning 20,500 square feet and sitting on six acres of land. It has six bedrooms, eight full bathrooms, and three half baths. The marbles, stones, and woods in the house were imported from around the world. There's a guest house.
And there's this pool:
The home was designed by Mark Harrison of Adkisson/Harrison and built by Will Andrews. Interior design was done by Mary Spalding.
According to the Times piece, "Jeff Knipp, the Nashville production designer, often gets a sense of place by looking at real estate ads. He liked the Roberts mansion, which had already been on the market for a year, because it looked like the kind of house that Rayna Jaymes would own.
"The residence combines outsize grandeur with earthy and golden tones, an extension of the copper-haired character played by Ms. Britton, who projects life-seasoned warmth ... Mr. Knipp also liked the quintessentially Southern and Nashville touches: painted portraits of Ms. Roberts’s two children, now grown, and a 'keeping room.' That’s a den off the kitchen, well appointed but more intimate than the look-at-me rooms, which include a cathedral-ceilinged family room, a cigar room, a formal living room, a copper-screened porch with a fireplace, a billiards room, a teenagers’ arcade room and a children’s playroom with built-in castle turrets and a home theater."
As for Ms. Roberts's idea to use the show for marketing purposes, we'll only know whether or not that works when the place sells.
