I’m intensely excited about our new Inglewood home listing — that neighborhood has a fantastic stock of classic Tudor homes, and 922 Burchwood Avenue is one of the most charming examples I’ve come across in a while, with gorgeous brick and stone work and arches and other irresistible touches that you only find in a real historic Tudor.

The home has a mix of original details (fireplace, doors, mouldings) and smartly updated spaces full of vintage character. If you’ve been looking for an East Nashville home with historic charm, this is more than worth your attention. We’ll be hosting an Open House on Saturday, 2 to 4 p.m. — stop by and see it then, or let us know if you’d like to set up another time to explore.

People who love Tudor homes — and I am enthusiastically, emphatically one of them — find the Old World aesthetics and stylized details impossible to resist. Simplicity is something that appeals to me too, but with a Tudor, so much attention, time and money was invariably put into making the home special, from ornate doorways and embellished chimneys to those telltale gable roofs, transporting you back to England circa… well, maybe not full Henry VIII, but certainly back in the day enough.

Here in Nashville, we have a pretty fair crop of Tudor homes, from historic properties to new builds, stretched throughout the city. I think 922 Burchwood is one of the most arresting specimens you'll see, but for the fellow Tudor lovers, here’s some others on the market, old to new, East to West in Nashville.

1200 Rosebank Ave

Nashville, TN 37206

$432,900

I really love the variety of Tudor homes in East Nashville, and that from time to time, you can find properties that are predominantly original (or at least period-appropriate). Some buyers scoff at time-capsule stuff; others are majorly wooed by it. For the latter, there’s this 1930 stone Tudor, with lots of pine cabinetry and paneling that transports you back.

2700 Westwood Ave

Nashville, TN 37212

$725,000

Those diamond window muntins, right? Can’t get more classic and cool. Here in Hillsboro-West End/Vandy, this 1928 Tudor is among lots of other historic homes, which adds to the vibe. Speaking of vibe: Click through to the backyard, replete with little creek and wooden bridge. Like your own private English garden.

1722 Villa Place

Nashville, TN 37212

$795,000

This one near Belmont has apparently been operating as a B&B recently, and you can see why — 1932 charm is apparent right from the ornate porch and chimney. Inside, you find all kinds of original details too, from doorknobs to built-ins.

903 Russell Street

Nashville, TN 37206

$998,000

The woodwork alone in this huge 1912 Tudor in the heart of East Nashville makes my heart fully stop — unpainted original doors, trim and fireplace mantels, awesome character-filled hardwood floors and the like. Obsessed with historic details? Take a spin through the photos here, for sure. Cool added bonus: the detached carriage house offering extra space and options.

142 Heady Dr

Nashville, TN 37205

$1,790,000

Some new home builders in Nashville are pulling from Tudor design in new homes, but by and large, I see it playing out like it does in this elegant Belle Meade Highlands property: shapes and angles from the past, but with a cleaner, simplified palette pulled from today’s buyer preferences. It’s a cool blend, certainly. And this massive home, at just shy of 6000 square feet, has high style and high quality flowing throughout.

Is Tudor style on your priorities list as you’re shopping for a new home in Nashville? Let me know if I can tell you more about our Inglewood listing (head here for additional photos/details), or help you find some other options in the area to explore. Call or email TJ Anderson Homes here.
