I’m a huge supporter of pet rescue — my rescue dog Ella has been my best friend for going on 12 years now. So I like to regularly direct folks to the wonderful adoptable dogs at Metro Animal Care and Control on our blog, and take it one step further: If you’d like to adopt or foster a dog, I’ll sponsor that adoption or fostering! Drop me a line and let me know — it means a lot to me, particularly around the holidays, to help these sweet dogs find loving homes.

It’s no secret that it’s been a little nippy out, and I can say from experience that a rescue dog is the best cold-weather-snuggling partner you’ll come across. When you adopt a dog from MACC, your new family member is up to date on vaccinations, has their rabies license and is spayed or neutered. All they need is you.

You can take a look at MACC’s Petfinder page to see the many pets who are in need of a loving family this winter, or stop by MACC at 5125 Harding Place. Here are a few featured dogs that would love to be a part of your life:

Happy

ID: A114758
Happy is a 9-month-old, 35-pound pit mix whose personality fits his name — if you’re wanting a playful pal, he’s your guy. Click here for more about Happy.

Molly

ID: A115084
Molly is a young and playful, 42-pound American Bulldog mix with the charm to pull off that pink hat. Click here for more about Molly

Winter

ID: A115815
And a grown girl I just couldn’t ignore, from her name to those puppy-dog eyes. Winter is a medium-sized adult pit mix who clearly beams sweetness. Click here for more about Winter.

Even if you’re not ready to adopt a pet, there’s a lot you can do to help MACC and adoptable pets in the area. They’re currently in need of supplies, including:

Crates (medium and large)
Blankets
Food
Treats
Collars
Leashes

If you’re able to donate, you can drop your supplies off at MACC (5125 Harding Place in Nashville) from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday.

To keep up to date with adoptable pets and happenings at MACC, you can follow Stand By Your MACC on Facebook too. And please, let me know if you’re ready to adopt — I’d love to help!
