This week, The Tennessean reported that late country icon George Jones’ remarkable Franklin estate sold for just under $2 million. The sale was a long time coming — the home was listed back in 2012, and underwent several price drops before the new owners placed their bid.

That lengthy on-the-market period certainly isn’t a reflection on the home’s beauty. Check out the video above to see the lush grounds, stately columns, grand entryway and immaculately kept spaces — touchstones of the best of Williamson County living.

The Nestledown Drive estate’s sale inspired this week’s Open Houses roundup: We’re taking a look at some properties on the market now that also beam the best of Williamson County life, from green grounds to luxury details.

First, let’s check out the wider selection of Open Houses in the area this weekend:

And then, some homes hosting Open Houses this weekend that I think give a picture-perfect peek at why Williamson County living is so prized:

Brentwood

{mls: 1643746}

9552 Sanctuary Place

Brentwood, TN 37027

$1,349,900

The street name kind of says it all — a gorgeously landscaped property, an entryway with a 20-foot ceiling and winding staircase, huge chef’s kitchen, media room, full bar, warm and wood-clad cozy study and lots more, over just shy of 8,000 square feet. You truly don’t want for anything with this one. Open Sunday noon to 3 p.m.

Franklin

{mls: 1635030}

1118 Harpeth Ridge Rd.

Franklin, TN 37069

$899,000

Not your everyday Franklin property, and definitely worthy of a long look: This 5,000-plus-square-foot contemporary home was designed by Earl S. Swensson (responsible for just a few structures you might know, like the Batman Building and Opryland), and its walls of glass offer a perfect view into the woodland hideaway it’s nestled in. Seriously stunning, and open Sunday 2 to 4 p.m.

Franklin

{mls: 1650691}

708 Thomas Glen Circle

Franklin, TN 37069

 $719,900

Hard to resist the draw of that salt-water pool this time of year. But there’s lots more to this Franklin Tudor cottage — from beautiful beams in the large kitchen, opening up to a cozy, fireplace-warmed sitting room, to a spacious master retreat… even an already decked-out music studio space. Open Sunday 1 to 4 p.m.

Brentwood

{mls: 1641786}

9471 Chesapeake Dr.

Brentwood, TN 37027

$749,000

If you want a spacious, well-appointed home that gives a wide-open country feeling: This 4-bed, 3 1/2-bath in Brentwood, with more than 5,000 square feet of space, backs up on a horse pasture. Open Sunday 2 to 4 p.m.

Brentwood

{mls: 1648502}

1946 Harpeth River Dr.

Brentwood, TN 37027

 $694,000

A mix of classic design and modern convenience, with a gorgeous kitchen outfitted with high-end appliances, a stone patio with a gas fire pit for effortless entertaining and lots more. Open Sunday 2 to 4 p.m.
