 In the past 5 or so years the property and casualty insurance market has changed considerably. Tennessee especially has experienced many natural disasters including May 2010 flood, tornados, massive hail storms, earth quake tremors, and a multitude of sink hole problems. Seems it’s not getting any better for the Volunteer state anytime soon... All these unusual weather patterns resulted in an enormous amount of claim activity for this state. Loss ratios are at an all time high causing insurance (property and casualty ) companies to be forced to make the necessary changes and increase auto and home insurance rates to keep the doors open and remain profitable. Some carriers have gone to actual cash value for roof replacement and others have decided to increase the minimum deductible option from 500 to 1,000 + depending on prior claims activity. If Tennessee weather continues to be a problem I see more drastic changes coming down the pike...
