If you’re a tech-minded person — or if you ever, say, use the Internet — good chance you were at least intrigued when news broke of super-fast Gigabit Internet service Google Fiber coming to Nashville. Up to 1,000 megabits per second, they say, which theoretically means we’ll never again have to take a breath before the latest cat video/Bad Lip Reading gem starts playing.

But, see, that was the news: Fiber’s coming to Nashville. Not Williamson County, or Sumner County. Nashville. Sad face, tech-y non-Nashvillians.

Fast-forward to this week, though, and some of us can turn those frowns upside down, as Google shared news about expanding its reach to nearby areas

Included in the expansion list: Belle Meade, Oak Hill, Berry Hill and Forest Hills.

None of us are getting our super-speedy Internet imminently (it takes a while to roll out, and most predictions are looking at sometime next year). And some of you probably don’t much care about Internerdy stuff. But for the Belle Meade, Oak Hill, Berry Hill and Forest Hills dwellers — or soon-to-be residents — who got a smile out of that news, I figured I’d nod to those areas in this week’s Open Houses roundup.

First, the big picture:

Then a few Open Houses this weekend in Google’s newest in-the-works Fiberhoods:

Oak Hill

{mls: 1670065}

3529 PLEASANT VALLEY ROAD

NASHVILLE, TN

$549,000

There’s so much to like about this updated mid-century home in Oak Hill, from the charming curb appeal to the stylish kitchen and cozy living room fireplace. My favorite touches, though, are the outdoor entertaining spaces — the screened porch is something special, and the patio with fire pit right next to it? Thoroughly perfect fall hang. Open Sunday 2 to 4 p.m.

Forest Hills

{mls: 1659437}

6120 STONEHAVEN DRIVE

NASHVILLE, TN

$639,000

Traditional on the outside, updated and sleek on the inside — this 4-bed, 2 1/2-bath home in the Forest Hills area was built in 1969, and its modern upgrades are both timeless and totally today. The bright, clean kitchen and classic tiled baths are a good indication. Plus: more than two acres of wonderful leafy property. Open Sunday 2 to 4 p.m.

Belle Meade

{mls: 1661870}

212 BELLE MEADE BLVD.

NASHVILLE, TN

$2,197,000

Tony Belle Meade isn’t for the faint of budget, but when you’re working with $2 million plus, you can (and should) still expect something truly breathtaking. This new construction delivers, and that’s clear from the grand entryway. And if you love to cook? This kitchen is a big wow. Open Sunday 2 to 5 p.m.

Looking for a home in any of these areas, or anywhere else in Middle Tennessee? We’d love to help you find the perfect place, Fiberhood or non-Fiberhood. Reach out and tell us about your needs.
