Welcome To The Eastside Edleys
by T.J. Anderson
Ever since we heard the news that 12South BBQ haven Edley's would be opening up an East Nashville outpost, we have been stoked to welcome Edley's East to Gallatin Pike. Now that they've opened their doors right next to Fat Bottom Brewing, we're even more stoked and can't wait to soak up the summer on the patio of this righteous restaurant. Anyone who has ever visited the original Edley's will already know and love this place for its cool, casual vibe and delicious pork products.
For the record, Edley's East already has its liquor license, which means that the much-loved Edley's bushwacker is officially available on the east side of town. Also in that vein, Edley's East celebrates a happy hour Monday through Friday from 4-6 p.m. with $1 off all draft beer.
Not your run-of-the-mill BBQ shack as far as decor goes, this place was designed by Tuck Hinton Architects, the guys behind The Country Music Hall of Fame, the Frist Center, the Science Center, and plenty more Nashville institutions. (Speaking of "Tuck," you gotta try the "Tuck Sandwich," which is crammed with brisket, house-made spicy pimento cheese, an over easy egg, red and white sauce, and pickles). It's built to look all kinds of rustic--like any self-respecting BBQ place--with lots of bare wood, exposed beams, exposed lighting, and cool details. And because some bizarre codes stipulation wouldn't allow them to build a wooden deck, Edley's ended up putting in a concrete patio and then having it stamped to look like wood. It turned out super gorgeous. Make sure to check it out while you're there.
We also just got word that The Filling Station is opening up its second location right next to Fat Bottom and Edley's East. Gallatin Pike is really coming along. It's all happening, y'all!
