Where To Get Mothers Day Flowers In Nashville
by TJ Anderson
I’ll admit that I don’t know much about flower arranging, but I've at least picked up one related piece of wisdom: Nothing says “I thought about you the least amount possible for this holiday” like grocery-store flowers.
With Mother’s Day coming up, it's a good lesson to remember.
Nashville has plenty of talented florists, from East Nashville to West Meade, so it’s not hard to find something beautiful, and beyond the ordinary. Below, a few of my favorite locally bred floral businesses, all of whom will have cool arrangements to offer as we creep up to Mom’s day.
I have a strong appreciation for old trucks and vans, which is why mobile flower purveyor Amelia’s Flower Truck initially caught my attention, one of their tricked-out VW buses parked at a local business, making the lot a lot more fun. Everything they offer — including various bouquets — is really fresh, and thus, will last. Their arrangements are fun and young and quirky, too, traits that a few moms I know definitely echo. Check the Amelia’s Flower Truck website for the truck’s schedule (they’re always out and about, from The Gulch to West Nashville), or order online directly.
123 S 11th St., East Nashville
I guarantee a good cross-section of East Nashville moms will be receiving a bundle of floral joy this mother’s day from FLWR Shop, a florist and design shop that bills itself as “not your granny’s flower shop,” and definitely delivers on that promise. You can order a Mother’s Day bouquet through them based on the recipient's personality: Would they prefer something vivid? Earthy? Luminous? Amorous? Whatever your choice, it’ll be really pretty, and really not boring. Above: one of their “warm” designs, meant to give off beachy sunset vibes. Stop by the shop to explore in person, or order online and have your gift delivered.
215 6th Ave N., downtown
Long a fixture downtown, it’s hard to go wrong with OSHi Floral Design, which does everything from corporate events to single arrangements. Their Designer’s Inspiration bouquets are a great option for Mother’s Day, since you know you’ll get the best blooms and the most inspired designs. Swing by their showroom, or order directly online.
This is a new name I just stumbled on when I read about the Five Points Street Market coming to Five Points in East Nashville on May 12 and 13, but her designs really knocked me back, even as a non-expert — see above. Locally bred ll.floral will be one of many vendors at that event (more about the Five Points Street Market here), so if you’re a procrastinator, you might knock out flowers and gifts at the last minute, right there. Lots more photos/contact details at the ll.floral Instagram, too.
992 Davidson Dr. Suite 99, Hillwood area
I know lots of women (and men) who are really, really bored by roses, and that leaning can make Mother’s Day and Valentine’s Day flower shopping a bit complicated. The White Orchid, on the West Side of Nashville, seems to have a knack for working unexpected flower and color-scheme options together — the green anthurium pictured above definitely stands apart from your Kroger roses. Stop by or shop online.
2179 Hillsboro Rd., Franklin
For locals on the south side of things, Garden Delights in Franklin offers a bunch of local-centric designs that step outside the ordinary, from their “Belle Meade” bouquet with elegant white and cream lilies/snapdragons to the “12 South,” with bright pops of color. If your mom/wife/other giftee has a thing for sunflowers, they’re a particularly great place to look too. Visit the shop or order online.
Hope one of these helps you pick out something particularly perfect for a deserving Nashville-area mom in your life.
When you’re done shopping for Mother’s Day, if you’re moving into Nashville househunting mode, I’d love to help you find the perfect place. Check out some Nashville homes on the market now, and call or email TJ Anderson Homes here.
